Fred R. LeBlanc, 86, of Memramcook East died Tuesday (5 mars) at The Moncton Hospital after a brief illness. Born at Memramcook East, he was a son of the late Raphaël, and Jeanne (Landry) LeBlanc.

Fred R. LeBlancHe was a stone mason by trade and a veteran of the First World War, serving overseas with the Canadian army. He was a member of the Memramcook Branch, Royal Canadian Legion, and attended Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church, Memramcook East. His wife, the former Vitaline Dupuis, died four years ago. A son, Hervé, and a daughter, Lorette, died previously.

He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Jeannette Mclaughlin of Memramcook East and Mrs. Omer Bourgeois (Anna) of Memramcook West; four sons, Laurie of Waltham, Mass., Edouard and René, both of Memramcook East and Brother Léo LeBlanc, Trappist monk, Rogersville; a sister, Mrs. Edouard Belliveau (Lita) of Memramcook West; two brothers, Raphaël and Frank LeBlanc, both of Memramcook East; 23 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

The body will be at Dupuis' Funeral Home, Memramcook this evening. Funeral mass will be celebrated Friday from Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church, Memramcook East.



The military service for Fred R. LeBlanc of Memramcook East was recently held in the N.D. de Lourdes Church on March 8, under the direction of Dupuis Funeral Home, with Rev. Father Armand LeBlanc officiating. He was assisted by Father Irois Després and Father Alphonse Arsenault, a Trappist (Priest) from Rogerville.

The pallbearers were veterans of the Memramcook Legion Branch No 89. They were followed by other veterans, the Ladies Auxiliary and the Air Cadets. The body was placed in the vault at St. Joseph awaiting burial in the spring at the N.D. de Lourdes cemetery.
